Download a public Snapchat Spotlight video
Spotlight links identify individual public videos. A public profile or Story link can return different content.
Copy the Spotlight share link
Open the specific Spotlight video in Snapchat and use Share to copy its link. A complete Spotlight URL or Snapchat short share link is preferable to a creator’s general profile link.
Open the Snapchat downloader
Paste the link into our Snapchat downloader, select Download, and check that the preview matches the video you intended to save. Save the available video using the button beneath its preview.
Understand source quality
The download uses an available source file. Resolution and embedded watermarks depend on that file; the site does not invent missing detail or guarantee every video is HD.
If the video is unavailable
The creator may have removed the video or restricted access. An expired Story is different from a Spotlight post. Copy a current public link; private chats and private content are unsupported.
Choose a Spotlight, Snap or profile link
| Link shape | Intended result | Common mix-up |
|---|---|---|
/spotlight/VIDEO_ID | The identified public Spotlight video | A creator’s general Spotlight page is not an individual video. |
/t/SHARE_CODE | A short share link that must still resolve to available content | An old share code cannot restore an expired Snap. |
/@creator/SNAP_ID | The identified item in an available public Story | It is not a request for a different current Snap. |
/@creator | The profile’s available active public Story | This can return a collection rather than one specific video. |
Check the matching item before saving
When a source page includes recommendations, the result should still correspond to the specific link you supplied. Compare the title and preview. If the shared Snap expired, a current Story on the same profile is different content. Do not treat it as a replacement for the missing item.
For a saved video that will not play, check the browser’s transfer status, then use the private file inspector to see whether its header and metadata can be read.
Save only content you own or have permission to download.
