Find the next useful step.
A link error, an incomplete collection and an unreadable saved file are different problems. Start with the symptom you can actually see.
| What you see | What it usually narrows down | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The site rejects the link immediately | Wrong host, unsupported path or a general app page instead of a post. | Copy the specific public post’s share link. Do not use a private chat or a screenshot of a link. |
| The source link cannot be retrieved | Removed or restricted content, an expired Story, a platform limit or a temporary service problem. | Confirm that the exact item still exists. Follow any wait message. Repeated rapid submissions do not restore an expired post. |
| Fewer items than expected | The collection may be incomplete even when some previews load. | Compare the available-file count and warning with the original collection. Save only what is present; do not assume unseen slides were included. |
| A download button says the link expired | The temporary file address has expired; it is different from the original post link. | Paste the original public post link again to get a fresh result. A fresh address cannot restore source content that was removed. |
| A preview opens but no file appears | The browser displayed the media without saving it, or saved it to a different location. | Check the browser’s download list. On iPhone, also check Files and your selected download location. |
| The saved video will not play | A failed transfer, unsupported codec, or a file whose extension does not match its contents. | Check transfer completion, inspect the file header, then try your normal media player. Keep the original before attempting edits. |
Separate preview failures from download failures
A browser may fail to display an inline preview while the file button still works. If the preview is missing, a completed saved file is the thing to inspect. If the download itself returns an error or the browser marks it as failed, a blank preview is not evidence of a successful save.
Choose the link that matches the job
An Instagram profile opens browsing; a carousel link selects one post. An active Story and a saved Highlight are different collections. A Snapchat public profile can show an available active public Story, while a specific share link refers to an individual Snap. A TikTok profile is not the same as a video or photo-post link. Check the returned title and preview before saving.
When to stop retrying
Private accounts, Close Friends content, private chats and sign-in-only items are unsupported. Do not provide passwords or account cookies to make them work. If the service asks you to wait, allow that time to pass. If the original is gone, ask the creator for an authorized copy instead of retrying the removed URL.
Send a useful problem report
Contact contact@instasnaptik.com with the platform, the public original post link, device/browser, the exact error and whether it happened before the preview, at download, or during playback. For missing collections, include the expected and returned item counts. Do not send passwords, account cookies, private media or temporary signed download links.
